Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir Dundee Hills 2018
Robert Drouhin’s vision of an Oregon estate winery that could rival the great vineyards of Burgundy has been realized at DDO.
The Drouhin Family’s winemaking roots run deep, having taken hold in Burgundy’s best vineyards more than a century ago. Through the years, there has been a very clear link, a continuum, that inhabits Maison Joseph Drouhin, and now Domaine Drouhin Oregon.
The 2018 Dundee Hills is complex and structured, a beautiful combination of flavour, intensity, and backbone. Subtle notes of rose petal, raspberry and dark cherries lead into layered flavours of sour cherries, cranberry, black tea, and plum. There is an extraordinary balance between the fine tannins and energizing lift of vibrant red fruit and acidity. This is a wine that will be exciting to follow as it passes the 5, 10, and 15-year marks.
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Medium ruby-purple, the 2018 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills opens with savoury notions of leather, graphite and tobacco with a core of red and blue berry fruits. The palate is medium-bodied with concentrated, incredibly spicy flavour layers, firm and super fresh, and it finishes very long and flavourful.
