Product description
Introduction
Hailing from Australia's world-renowned Barossa Valley, this wine is a benchmark of the region's rich viticultural heritage. The Elderton estate was originally planted in 1894, but it was not until 1982 that the Ashmead family produced the first wines under their own label. Today, the second generation—brothers Cameron and Allister—lead the winery with a commitment to sustainability and a 'micro-cru' philosophy, sourcing fruit from three distinct estate vineyards in Nuriootpa, Greenock, and Craneford.
Wine Description
This 100% Shiraz displays a vibrant dark purple colour in the glass. The aromatic profile is complex and heady, featuring a waft of ripe red berries, spiced plums, and blackberries framed by distinctive notes of eucalyptus, chocolate, and mocha. On the palate, the wine is full bodied and opulent, delivering generous layers of black forest fruits and redcurrant with a 'gamey' depth and touches of spicy cloves and liquorice. Its structure is defined by a firm acid seam and fine-grained, silky tannins that provide a seamless, tight close. For optimal enjoyment, this wine has significant cellaring potential, with a drinking window typically spanning from 2024 through 2039.
