Grgich Hill Fume Blanc 2016

Product description

Grgich Hills Estate is an iconic Napa Valley winery, consistently producing world-class wines.  Vintner Hall of Fame inductee Miljenko “Mike” Grgich first earned world-wide recognition when the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that he crafted won the 1976 Paris Tasting, beating the best of France.  Mike then partnered with Austin Hills to open their family-owned-and-operated winery in 1977.  Committed to natural winegrowing and sustainability, Grgich farms their five estate vineyards without artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides, rely on wild yeast fermentation and use their passion and art to handcraft food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines.

On the nose the 2016 Fume Blanc exhibits notes of lemon rind and dried orange, with savory, sweet hints of dulce de leche.  The palate is fresh with citrus, lemon zest, and balanced acidity with a mouthwatering long finish.  Pair with pork loin, chicken, or all by itself.

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast    A grip of reduction on the nose in tones of flint and matchstick is consistent for the producer's style. On the palate are light-bodied layers of green olive, pineapple, peach and lemon, a contrasting set of fruit and savory elements that work seamlessly together.
