Product description

Hétszőlő 5 Puttonyos is a Tokaji Aszú wine produced by the Tokaj-Hétszőlő estate in Hungary. Established in 1502, the estate boasts seven exceptional vineyards, reflected in its name, which means "seven parcels of vineyard" in Hungarian. Under the ownership of Michel Reybier, also known for Château Cos d'Estournel in Bordeaux, this wine embodies a commitment to excellence.

Winemaking and Aging

This wine is crafted from handpicked, botrytized Furmint grapes, meticulously selected to achieve the "5 Puttonyos" sweetness level. The Aszú berries are macerated in fresh must, followed by a slow fermentation and aging process in oak barrels for two years. This traditional method produces a wine of exceptional complexity, richness, and balance.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: A radiant golden hue with an alluring viscosity.
  • Nose: Captivating aromas of apricots, citrus zest, candied orange peel, and a hint of honeyed spices.
  • Palate: Full-bodied and opulent, with vibrant flavors of dried tropical fruits, ripe peaches, and citrus marmalade. The wine’s sweetness is perfectly counterbalanced by a zesty acidity, leading to a long, elegant finish with hints of vanilla and caramel.

Serving and Pairing

Hétszőlő 5 Puttonyos is best served chilled at 50–54°F (10–12°C). It pairs beautifully with foie gras, blue cheeses, fruity desserts, or can be enjoyed on its own as a decadent dessert wine.
