Opta Dao Reserva 2015

This Opta Reserva 2015 wine is full-bodied but delicate on the palate, with soft tannins. With its dusty black ruby color, the wine backs up the fruits in the nose with notes of raspberries, cherries, and redcurrants, with hints of tobacco and mocha. Earthy aromas and flavors of fertile earth, grape leaves, sarsaparilla, and sweet cream gelato with a satiny, dry light body and a graceful, interesting, medium-length finish imparting notes of leather with moderate oak flavor.  A wonderful sensation of long-lasting freshness. A chewy, Old World red that will pair well at the rustic table.

Opta's Reserva blend consists of Touriga Nacional, Afrocheiro, and Tinta Roriz grown in a clay-limestone environment where the vines take their water deep.  Nuno Cancela de Abreu, the winemaker, expertly vinifies the grapes and then ages his wine in barrels for nine months.
