Product description

This Barolo wine is endowed with great balance and harmony, and it is produced with selected Nebbiolo grapes deriving from the 'Colonnello' vineyard, situated in the Bussia Cru in Monforte d’Alba. To our sight it presents an intense ruby red colour with some orange nuances, while the bouquet is elegant and includes hints of currant, blueberries, cherry, mixed berries, spices, licorice and coffee. Moreover, it owns a warm and intense taste, while it is endowed with great structure and persistence, too. For these peculiarities, this Barolo wine accompanies perfectly red meats, game and seasoned cheeses.

98 Points - James Suckling     The luster of new oak shines bright here, as do the very bright and assertively ripe cherries and red plums, as well as orange zest. The tannins are a highlight with a very fluid and fleshy core of red-fruit flavor, building to a tight and long finish. This is regal Barolo. Try from 2023.

95 Points - Wine Spectator     Alluring aromas of black currant, cherry, licorice and mint are set against a backdrop of vanilla and toasty oak notes in this red. Ripe cherry and plum flavors ply the middle as this plays out on the long, fruit- and spice-filled aftertaste. Best from 2023 through 2043.

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate     Of these four Barolos from Poderi Aldo Conterno, the 2015 Barolo Bussia Colonnello shows the most focused precision. This wine offers a very fine and detailed bouquet that is distinguished by linear fruit, spice and mineral. Those aromas feel elongated and extended, both in terms of their volume and length. This impression is especially strong in a warm vintage like 2015, which brings intense and richly concentrated fruit to the table. This wine is extremely elegant and generous. Rating: 94+

92 Points - Decanter     In contrast to Conterno's Romirasco and Cicala bottlings, south-facing Colonnello delivers slightly more forward and accessible wines. Rose aromas dominate the ripe and piquant nose. It's broad and generous in the mouth, with bold, assertive tannins. It's a harmonious style that doesn't show exceptional acidity but is nonetheless long and stylish.
