Pol Roger Brut Rose 2018
Product description
Pale salmon with delicate pink hues. Great intensity of color with a fine and persistent effervescence. The nose is intense and reminiscent of a basket of red fruits where raspberry, redcurrant and blackcurrant mingle, with the added nuances of exotic mango and papaya. With time and air, the floral aromas of rose and honeysuckle then dominate. Mouth-filling on the palate with some sophistication and an impressive length. Despite the obvious ripeness on the palate, the wine has a terrific freshness and very present acidity suggesting a bright future for this cuvee.
This Brut Rose is the ideal choice to accompany fish such as grilled salmon or even sushi. It also marries perfectly with fruit tarts and other fruit desserts; try pairing with a forced rhubarb fool, the sharpness of the fruit complementing the elegant structure of the wine.
95 Points - James Suckling
If you like Burgundian pinot noir reds then you should love this very winey and structured rosé champagne, with its zesty blood orange freshness. And, in spite of this it is very refreshing with a complex spicy finish. Good potential.
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Brut Rose opens to a superb bouquet revealing scents of plums, red berries, pastry, almond, mandarin orange and lemon oil complemented by classy autolytic notes. On the palate, this remarkable rose has a tauter and more fine-boned texture than usual, which is enhanced by bright acids and a chalky, saline finish.
