The grapes not only form the basis for good wine: they give it its essence, its soul, and its personality. They adapt themselves to the rhythms of nature, they make themselves at home in the land in which they grow and allow themselves to be guided by the hands of the vigneron. Cultivating the land is an ancient occupation, tinged with tradition and the aura of times past.
The Speri family began working as vine growers in Valpolicella seven generations ago. Times change but the old values endure, as does the Speris' pride in being part of an extraordinary area like the Valpolicella Classica zone and the moral duty they feel to express its characteristics in their company's wines.
A deep garnet red in colour, it has an ethereal bouquet of dried fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied, warm, mouth-filling and dry. A substantial wine of rare elegance that lends itself well to ageing.
Excellent with richly flavoured main courses based on red meat, such as braised meats and game, and perfect with mature cheeses. It can also be enjoyed on its own at the end of a fine dinner.
Blend: 70% Corvina Veronese e Corvinone 25% Rondinella, 5% Molinara
94 Points - James Suckling
Dark cherries, blackberries, mussels, licorice, figs and some finely ground black chocolate, following through to a medium-to full-bodied palate with elegant berries and a bittersweet black-chocolate note. A refined, textbook Amarone that shows great poise and modern drinkability.
