Product description

The E. Guigal Gigondas Rouge 2019 is a robust red wine from the renowned Rhône Valley, crafted primarily from Grenache (70%), with Syrah (20%) and Mourvèdre (10%) enhancing the blend. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, are rooted in ancient alluvial soils of red clay and gravel on the slopes of the Gigondas appellation. Following a traditional extended maceration, the wine is aged for 24 months in oak casks, half of which are new.

Colour: Deep, intense purple hue.
Aroma: Notes of ripe stone fruits, licorice, and wild Mediterranean herbs (garrigue).
Palate: Full and powerful with flavors of ripe rhubarb, wild strawberry, blackberry, and savory herbs, leading to a refined, saline finish.
Body: Full-bodied and balanced, providing a rich and structured experience.
Finish: Long and sophisticated, with a smooth, well-integrated tannin profile.

Food Pairing Suggestions: Ideal with hearty dishes such as red meats, game, and aged cheeses.

Optimal Drinking Window: Enjoy now to capture its youthful intensity, or age until 2030 and beyond for added depth and complexity.

This wine is a fine representation of the Rhône region, showcasing the area’s distinctive character and depth.
