We are seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and customer-focused sales professional to join our team as a Fine Wine Retail Specialist. This role is ideal for someone passionate about fine wines, exceptional service, and creating memorable customer experiences in a boutique retail environment.
As a floor sales associate, you will act as a brand ambassador for our curated wine selection, offering expert recommendations, education, and impeccable service to our clientele. Your role is central to shaping the store’s ambiance and guiding customers through a sophisticated, engaging, and educational shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement and Sales
- Greet customers warmly and provide personalized assistance based on individual tastes, preferences, and occasions.
- Recommend wines confidently, including rare and premium selections, based on deep product knowledge.
- Share stories of producers, vintages, regions, and winemaking techniques to enrich the shopping experience.
- Upsell and cross-sell complementary products such as glassware, wine accessories, and gourmet items.
- Process transactions efficiently and accurately through the POS system.
Product Knowledge and Education
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the store’s inventory, including new arrivals, allocations, and limited releases.
- Continuously expand wine knowledge, including styles, appellations, grape varieties, food pairings, and trends.
- Attend tastings, trainings, and staff educational sessions.
- Assist in staff and customer tastings as needed.
Merchandising and Store Presentation
- Ensure the sales floor is visually appealing, organized, and aligned with brand standards.
- Replenish stock, create attractive displays, and participate in seasonal promotions.
- Handle bottles with care and ensure all products are correctly labeled and priced.
Client Relationships and Loyalty
- Build relationships with regular customers, providing tailored recommendations and follow-ups.
- Support the store’s email list and loyalty program by capturing customer contact information.
- Assist in developing client profiles and suggesting custom wine selections for events or cellars.
Retail Manager

We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and business-savvy Retail Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our high-end wine store. The ideal candidate brings a blend of deep wine knowledge, luxury retail experience, team leadership, and operational excellence. This role requires someone who can inspire a team, engage a discerning clientele, and ensure a refined and efficient store experience.
The Retail Manager will be responsible for staff supervision, customer service, sales performance, visual merchandising, inventory management, and overall store standards. This is a hands-on leadership role that sets the tone for service, culture, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sales associates and wine specialists to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Recruit, train, and onboard new team members with an emphasis on wine knowledge and customer engagement.
- Set clear goals and provide regular feedback and performance evaluations.
- Foster a professional, collaborative, and wine-passionate team culture.
Sales & Customer Experience
- Champion a high-touch service model that reflects the boutique’s standards.
- Drive in-store sales and client relationships through personalized service, product storytelling, and follow-up.
- Resolve customer concerns and special requests with discretion and warmth.
- Identify high-value clients and ensure a luxury-level experience.
Operations & Merchandising
- Oversee daily operations including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and scheduling.
- Ensure proper merchandising, cleanliness, and presentation across all displays and shelving.
- Monitor and optimize store layout for visual appeal and commercial impact.
- Implement and manage in-store promotions and events.
Inventory & Product Management
- Work closely with buyers and suppliers to ensure a well-curated and replenished selection.
- Oversee inventory accuracy, receiving, and storage procedures.
- Manage shrinkage and ensure all products are correctly priced and labeled.
- Assist in physical inventory counts and reporting.
Financial & Business Accountability
- Achieve or exceed monthly sales targets and KPIs.
- Analyze sales reports to identify trends and opportunities.
- Support planning and execution of marketing campaigns and tastings.
- Maintain compliance with provincial liquor laws and internal policies.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in retail management, preferably in wine, spirits, luxury goods, or fine dining.
- Formal wine education (e.g., WSET Level 2 or higher) strongly preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- A customer-focused approach with attention to detail and storytelling.
- Proficiency with POS systems, retail management software, and Microsoft Office.
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to lift wine cases (up to 40 lbs) and work on your feet during shifts.
