Billiot's NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru is powerful and tightly wound, with a great interplay of tension and Ambonnay power. Cranberry, chalk, white pepper and mint are some of the signatures, but it is the wine's persistence and overall palate presence that makes it most distinctive.
92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The NV Brut Rose Grand Cru is a deeply colored, powerful wine that showcases the richness of Ambonnay at its finest. The Rose needs some time in the glass to find its inner balance, but when it does the fruit gains delineation and intensity through to the dramatic, sweeping finish. The NV Brut Rose Grand Cru is predominantly Pinot Noir (including 6% still Pinot) with a dash of Chardonnay from the estate’s oldest vineyards. This is Lot L 02, disgorged June, 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.
92 Points - Wine Spectator An undercurrent of minerality supports ripe black cherry and black raspberry flavors, with hints of pastry, cream and candied grapefruit peel. Finely meshed and focused by vibrant acidity. Disgorged March 2011. Drink now through 2016.
92 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (75% pinot noir and 25% chardonnay; 50% of the wine is from 2009, 25% from 2008 and 25% from 2007; disgorged June, 2011): Light orange. High-pitched aromas of redcurrant and strawberry, with deeper rhubarb and rose oil nuances and a hint of white pepper. Bright and nervy on the palate, showing tangy red berry and blood orange flavors that gain flesh and weight with air. Closes on a chalky note, with very good energy and lingering spiciness.
90 Points - Vinous Billiot's NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru is powerful and tightly wound, with a great interplay of tension and Ambonnay power. Cranberry, chalk, white pepper and mint are some of the signatures, but it is the wine's persistence and overall palate presence that make it the most distinctive of these three wines. Hints of orange peel and dried leaves add further shades of nuance. There is a lot to like.
