Product description

Introduction

Clase Azul Añejo Tequila is an ultra-premium spirit from Mexico, specifically produced in the Los Altos region of Jalisco. Founded in 1997 by Arturo Lomelí, Clase Azul Mexico is a privately held luxury house that focuses on celebrating Mexican heritage through artisanal craftsmanship. The añejo expression, also known as 'Edición Indígena-Mazahua' (Mazahua Edition), is presented in a handcrafted ceramic decanter that pays tribute to the Mazahua indigenous culture and features traditional brushstrokes painted in 24-karat gold.

Spirit Description

The spirit is made from 100% organic Blue Weber agave, which is slow-cooked in masonry ovens for approximately 72 hours before undergoing double distillation in copper stills. It is then aged for 25 months in American whiskey casks, often specifically noted as bourbon barrels.

  • Colour: This tequila presents a deep copper hue with intense golden highlights or a rich amber with copper reflections.

  • Aroma: The nose is intense and layered, offering scents of Mexican vanilla, toffee, and roasted hazelnut alongside orange marmalade, apple preserves, and warm spices like cinnamon and clove.

  • Palate: It delivers a silky smooth, luxurious texture with a complex symphony of flavours including nutmeg, clove, candied orange peel, and black pepper. Prominent notes of toasted oak from the extended aging process add significant depth.

  • Body: The spirit is characterised by a great, full body that is velvety on the palate.

  • Finish: It concludes with a long, silky finish that is both sweet and spicy, featuring toasted and spiced notes that linger.

  • ABV: This expression is bottled at 40%.
