Product description

Tenuta San Guido, established in the 1940s by Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, is a pioneering winery located in Bolgheri, Tuscany. Renowned for introducing the concept of "Super Tuscan" wines, the estate's flagship wine, Sassicaia, has gained international acclaim for its exceptional quality and innovation.

The 2018 Sassicaia is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, a blend that highlights its Bordeaux-inspired origins. The wine presents a deep ruby hue, reflecting its concentration and depth. On the nose, it offers enticing aromas of cedar, wild red berries, menthol, and pipe tobacco, complemented by fragrant blue flowers. The palate is vibrant and savoury, with layers of cassis, orange zest, licorice, and a hint of coffee framed by taut, polished tannins. This vintage is approachable now but will continue to evolve gracefully over the next decade or more.

This exceptional wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, wild mushroom risotto, or aged Pecorino cheese. Together, these pairings enhance the wine’s depth and create an unforgettable dining experience.

The 2018 vintage in Bolgheri was marked by a cold winter and a hot summer, leading to a wine of remarkable elegance and balance. Cool nights allowed for the development of complex aromas and preserved acidity, while warm days ensured phenolic ripeness. The result is a vintage that combines richness with finesse, showcasing the mastery of Tenuta San Guido.
