Introduction

Rebel 10 Year Old Single Barrel (formerly Rebel Yell) is a premium Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey from the United States. The brand's history is deeply rooted in the Stitzel–Weller Distillery, where it was first produced in the 1930s with a wheated mash bill similar to other famous brands from that facility. Originally created by former Louisville mayor Charles R. Farnsley for exclusive distribution in the Southern United States, the brand was later acquired by Luxco (formerly David Sherman Corporation) and is now produced by MGP Ingredients. Since 2018, it has been distilled and aged at the Lux Row Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky.

Spirit Description

This bourbon is a wheated whiskey, substituting rye with wheat for a softer, sweeter profile. Each bottle is drawn from a single charred oak barrel that has aged for a minimum of 10 years, ensuring that every batch or bottle has a unique character.

• Colour: Light amber to medium caramel.

• Aroma: The nose typically features rich caramel, vanilla, and soft oak. Some barrels exhibit more complex notes of dark fruits, citrus, peanut brittle, and even hints of pineapple or peach.

• Palate: The palate is known for being velvety and sweet, often led by vanilla, caramel, and honey. These initial notes frequently transition into more robust flavours of toasted oak, baking spices, dark cherry, and cocoa powder.

• Body: It is generally described as having a medium-to-full body with a thin-to-velvety mouthfeel.

• Finish: The finish is warm and medium-to-long in length, characterized by a sudden burst of spice, citrus, and a lingering oaky sweetness.

• ABV: It is bottled at 100 proof, or 50% ABV.
