Product description
From Scotland’s renowned Speyside region, this single malt is produced at the historic Mortlach Distillery, often referred to as the ‘Beast of Dufftown’ for its bold, meaty style. Bottled by independent family-owned bottler Gordon & MacPhail, established in 1895, the release belongs to their celebrated ‘Distillery Labels’ range, which honours long-standing partnerships with iconic distilleries.
Whisky Description
Deep amber in colour, the Mortlach 15 Year Old offers aromas of sherry-soaked raisins, toffee, liquorice, and marmalade, lifted by woodland freshness. The palate is rich and full-bodied, unfolding layers of blackcurrant jam, cherry, creamy vanilla, and citrus zest, reminiscent of Black Forest cake. A subtle meaty undertone anchors the whisky’s complexity, balanced by notes of dark chocolate, spice, and gentle wood smoke. The finish is long, warming, and rounded, with lingering candied orange and malt sweetness.
Food Pairing
This robust single malt pairs beautifully with venison stew, slow-braised short ribs, or dark chocolate desserts such as flourless cake. Strong cheeses like aged Gouda or blue also complement its bold character.
