Product description

Cliff Lede Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2021 is a distinguished red wine from Napa Valley, California, crafted by Cliff Lede Vineyards. This wine exemplifies the rich and concentrated character typical of the Oakville appellation.

Vineyard and Terroir:

  • Location: Sourced from an exceptional vineyard on the southeast border of Oakville.

  • Soil: Extremely rocky soils composed largely of stones weathered by Rector Creek over millennia.

  • Viticulture: The poor, stony soils restrict vine vigor, resulting in small berries with incredible concentration.

Winemaking Process:

  • Harvesting: Hand-harvested in the cool early morning hours to preserve freshness.

  • Sorting: Rigorous three-tiered sorting process, including cutting-edge optical sorting, to ensure only perfect berries are selected.

  • Fermentation: Cold soaks lasted approximately five days, with fermentations managed by a combination of délestage and pump-overs.

  • Maceration: Extended maceration ranging from three to four weeks to fine-tune tannin profiles and build structure.

  • Aging: Aged in French oak barrels, 68% new, for twenty-one months.

Tasting Notes:

  • Appearance: Deep ruby color.

  • Aroma: Layers of blackberry, jammy blackcurrants, and warm summer mulberries, accented by cumin, smoked paprika, and hints of red and black licorice.

  • Palate: Rich and dense with sweet, creamy tannins leading to a focused and intense finish, culminating in a long and seamless experience.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Temperature: Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F).

  • Decanting: Decant for about an hour before serving to allow the wine to open up and reveal its full complexity.

  • Food Pairings: Complements well with grilled steaks, roasted lamb, or aged cheeses.
