Product description
Introduction
From France’s southern Rhône Valley, specifically the Valréas area within the Côtes du Rhône Villages appellation, Mas de Sainte Croix is a family-run winery situated on south- and southwest-facing hillsides and plateaus between Valréas and Vinsobres at altitudes of 350 to 400 metres. The clay-limestone soils, combined with the cooling influence of the Mistral wind and cooler nighttime temperatures, help preserve freshness in the grapes. The estate is dedicated to crafting wines that balance tradition with a modern sensibility, producing cuvées that reflect the unique character of their terroir.
Wine Description
A blend of approximately 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, the 2022 vintage presents a deep ruby colour. The bouquet offers dark cherries, blackberries, and ripe plums alongside notes of sweet spice, licorice, leather, and hints of dried herbs such as thyme and bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied, juicy, and velvety, with chalky yet supple tannins framing flavours of ripe black fruit, cocoa, and subtle floral tones. Freshness and ripe fruit are in perfect harmony, leading to a flavourful and lingering finish.
Food Pairing
An excellent match for grilled or rare red meats such as T-bone steak or lamb, as well as herb-seasoned roasts and game meats. This pairing highlights the wine’s depth and character.
