More Information
Product description
This Malbec is produced in Argentina, specifically within the renowned Mendoza region. Bodega Alamos belongs to the historic Catena Zapata group, a family-owned operation often credited with leading the viticultural renaissance in Argentina. The winery focuses on capturing the purity of the Andes Mountains, sourcing fruit from high-altitude vineyards situated between 3,000 and 5,000 feet.
Wine Description
The Alamos Malbec presents a dark, blackish purple colour with distinct violet hues. The nose is highly aromatic, featuring layers of dark cherry, blackberry, and ripe plum intertwined with crushed violet, white pepper spice, and subtle vanilla. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, offering remarkable concentration of black raspberry and currant flavours accented by hints of chocolate and sweet spices from oak aging. It is characterized by a supple, velvety mouthfeel and balanced, silky tannins that lead into a long, persistent finish.
Food Pairing
This Malbec pairs exceptionally well with lean red meats such as sirloin or hanger steak, as well as roasted pork and robust pasta dishes with strong sauces. It is also a striking match for pungent soft cheeses like blue cheese or gorgonzola, which highlight the wine’s fruit intensity.
