Product description
Introduction
Fernet Branca Menta, often referred to simply as Brancamenta, is a refreshing amaro from the country of Italy, specifically the Lombardy region in Milan. It was created in the 1960s by the Fratelli Branca Distillerie after they observed fans of the opera singer Maria Callas adding mint syrup to their standard Fernet Branca. The family owned company, founded by Bernardino Branca in 1845, remains guided by the motto 'Novare Serbando' (Renew but Conserve).
Spirit Description
This liqueur is based on the secret proprietary recipe of Fernet Branca, which includes over 40 herbs, roots, and spices from four continents, matured for one year in oak vats. To this complex base, sugar and high quality Piedmontese peppermint oil are added to create a more accessible and cooling profile.
Colour: It possesses a deep balsamic brown or dark mahogany colour and is largely opaque.
Aroma: The nose is intensely minty, yielding scents of sharp spearmint and menthol softened by delicate notes of anise, liquorice, and milk chocolate.
Palate: It features a rich and clean palate of fresh peppermint and menthol, balanced by the herbal bitterness of the original Fernet blend and notes of citrus.
Body: The spirit is medium bodied with a smooth, syrupy gloss that carries flavours without feeling cloying.
Finish: It concludes with a persistent, cooling menthol finish accompanied by subtle hints of liquorice and a restrained, clean bitterness.
ABV: This liqueur is typically bottled at 28% to 30%.
