Product description
Campari is a globally recognized red apéritif originating from Novara, Italy, where it was invented in 1860 by Gaspare Campari. The brand is the flagship of the Campari Group, an Italian company that has grown into the sixth-largest spirits group worldwide and is currently headquartered in Sesto San Giovanni. Ownership transitioned from the founding family to the Garavoglia family in the 1970s, under whom the company launched a series of strategic acquisitions to build a portfolio of over 50 premium brands.
Description
Crafted from a secret infusion of herbs, aromatic plants, and fruit macerated in alcohol and water, Campari is still made according to its original 1860 recipe.
Colour: Vivid scarlet or crimson red; famously, the natural carmine dye derived from cochineal insects was replaced with artificial colouring in 2006 for most markets.
Aroma: Intense and herbaceous with a touch of citrus, particularly grapefruit peel, and subtle floral notes.
Palate: Bright and bitter-sweet with a complex medicinal character featuring notes of bitter orange, herbs, and mild spices like cinnamon.
Body: Lighter in body than many liqueurs, offering a supple and refreshing mouthfeel.
Finish: A bracing and slightly spicy exit with lingering herbal bitterness.
ABV: Depending on the international market, the alcohol by volume typically ranges from 20.5% to 28.5%, with North American bottles often at 24% or 25%.
