Product description

Introduction

Produced in France, this quintessential white wine is the only bottling permitted to bear the exclusive name of its appellation, Sancerre, located in the Central Vineyards of the Loire Valley. The estate's history is deeply rooted in the region, with the original castle ruins replaced in 1874 by a mansion built in the Louis XII style. In 1919, the property was acquired by Louis Alexandre Marnier Lapostolle, the famed creator of Grand Marnier liqueur, who was instrumental in establishing the global reputation of Sancerre wines. Today, the winery continues its commitment to excellence with Level 4 High Environmental Value certification, overseeing 55 hectares of vines planted across a unique mosaic of four different soil types.

Wine Description

The 2024 Chateau de Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc presents a bright yellow colour with elegant golden and silver highlights. On the nose, it offers a harmonious and intense aromatic profile, featuring classic Sauvignon Blanc notes of grapefruit, citrus, and white flowers, alongside hints of boxwood. The palate is fresh, lively, and well structured, delivering a fleshy mouthfeel with flavours of lemon, peach, and fresh fruit. It is characterized by a crisp acidity and a distinct mineral undertone that leads to a long, clean finish.

This wine is crafted from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown on rolling hills with a semi-continental climate. To preserve its natural freshness and vibrant fruit character, the wine is typically fermented at low temperatures and aged on its fine lees in stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation. While designed to be enjoyed young and fresh to capture its zesty appeal, high quality Sancerre can be cellared for a few years to develop further complexity.
