Veronica Ortega Quite 2019
Veronica Ortega Quite is a red wine produced by Veronica Ortega in Valtuille de Abajo (León) D.O. Bierzo. Veronica Ortega, is from Cádiz and trained in the best wineries of Burgundy and Priorat before she was attracted to the terroir of El Bierzo. She decided to settle in Valtuille de Abajo to start to produce her own wines, thus initiating her most personal project.
Veronica Ortega Quite is a wine made from Mencia, from vineyards located in Valtuille that are over 80 years old, planted on clay, sandy soils with a great deal of minerals. They are manually harvested and placed in 15-kg boxes. At the winery, the grapes are de-stemmed before they ferment in stainless steel deposits, with a slight extraction. Maceration takes approximately 10 days. This wine is aged for 8 months, 50% in used oak barrels, and the other 50% in 800-litre clay vessels.
Tasting Notes... Veronica Ortega Quite is a fluid, fruity and juicy wine. On the nose, aromas of red and black fruit stand out. In the mouth, it is easy to drink and fresh, with a mineral and slightly balsamic background.
