Product description
Hailing from Italy's iconic Tuscany region, specifically the subregions of Castellina and Radda in Chianti, Brancaia Il Blu 2019 is a flagship 'Super Tuscan' that represents the pinnacle of the estate's production. Founded in 1981 by Swiss couple Bruno and Brigitte Widmer, the winery is now managed by their daughter, winemaker Barbara Widmer, who blends Swiss precision with a deep respect for the Tuscan terroir. The estate's philosophy is defined by a commitment to 'no compromises', utilizing organic viticulture and spontaneous fermentation to create wines that authentically express their unique vineyard sites.
Wine Description
This full-bodied red displays a dense purple-red colour that transitions into a garnet hue at the rim. The nose is complex and evolving, offering intense aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, and violet, layered with sophisticated notes of cocoa, leather, anise, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is rich and concentrated, featuring a velveteen texture supported by elegant, firm, and creamy tannins. Flavours of black cherry liqueur, mocha, and wild berries lead into a long, polished finish characterized by a harmonious balance of freshness and spice.

Food Pairing
The wine's robust structure and intense flavour profile make it an ideal companion for rich, savoury dishes such as roasted or braised game, grilled lamb chops, or beef ossobuco. It also pairs beautifully with earthy mushroom-based recipes or mature Pecorino cheese.
