Casamigos Anejo Tequila

Casamigos Añejo Tequila is an ultra-premium aged Mexican spirit produced in the Highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco, Mexico. The brand was founded in 2013 by Hollywood actor George Clooney, nightlife entrepreneur Rande Gerber, and property developer Mike Meldman, originally created simply as a private house tequila for their personal collection of homes ("casa de amigos") in Mexico. Following explosive international growth, the brand was acquired by global spirits leader Diageo in 2017 in a landmark deal valued at up to $1 billion.

Spirit Description

Casamigos Añejo is crafted from 100% Blue Weber agaves grown in the mineral-rich red clay soil of the Jalisco Highlands. The agave piñas are slow-roasted in traditional brick ovens for 72 hours before undergoing an extended fermentation process utilizing a proprietary yeast blend. After double distillation in copper-lined pot stills, the liquid matures for 12 to 14 months in hand-selected American white oak barrels (NOM 1609 / formerly NOM 1416).

• Colour: Warm, rich caramel gold with amber highlights.

• Aroma: Soft, sweet, and complex, opening with dominant aromas of warm caramel, vanilla frosting, and butterscotch, layered alongside cooked agave, sweet cream, and subtle barrel oak.

• Palate: Velvety, smooth, and approachable on the entry. Upfront flavours of agave syrup, vanilla sponge cake, and toffee blend gracefully into toasted oak wood, subtle baking spices, cinnamon, and a hint of dark chocolate.

• Body: Medium-bodied with a round, silky, and viscous mouthfeel that coats the palate without heavy alcohol heat.

• Finish: Long, warming, and lingering, closing with persistent notes of sweet vanilla cream, soft oak spice, and mild black pepper.

• ABV: Bottled at 40% (80 Proof).
