Product description
Gray Monk Estate Winery was founded by George and Trudy Heiss, who planted their first grapes in the Okanagan's Lake Country in 1972. The Heiss family were pioneers in the region, being the first to introduce the famed Pinot Gris grape to B.C. and helping to establish the Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) standards. Today, Gray Monk continues to blend Old World traditions with a modern approach, crafting cool-climate wines that capture the unique terroir of Lake Country and the wider Okanagan Valley.
Wine Description
The Gray Monk Pinot Noir 2023 displays a bright ruby red colour. The aroma is a fragrant bouquet of ripe cherries, wild strawberries, and subtle forest floor notes. The flavour profile includes juicy cherry, red plum, and red berry flavours that evolve on the palate, along with notes of red currant, pomegranate, cranberry, earth, and spice lingering on the finish.
Food Pairing
Suggested pairings include cold beef wraps, grilled beef tenderloin, holiday turkey dinner with wild mushroom stuffing and cranberries, veal or eggplant parmesan, meat sauce or mushroom lasagna, and gourmet red sauce pizzas.
