Product description

This ripe and robust red wine originates from Australia, specifically from the South Australia region. First produced in 1959, Bin 28 was the first wine in the Penfolds portfolio to bear a bin number, named after the famous Kalimna vineyard in the Barossa Valley purchased by the winery in 1945. While originally a single-vineyard wine, it has evolved into a multi-region, multi-vineyard blend that serves as a showcase for warm-climate Australian Shiraz, with the Barossa Valley consistently well represented in its composition.

Wine Description

Penfolds Bin 28 Shiraz presents a vibrant, dense plum red colour. The sensory profile is generous and lifted, featuring a complex nose of blackberries and ripe plums layered with savory notes of aniseed, black liquorice, and a 'formic' lift. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and plush, showcasing rich flavours of chocolate, espresso, and dark berries underpinned by subtle notes of baking spices and roasted game. It is characterized by an energetic, juicy acidity and fine structural tannins that contribute to an enduring, balanced finish. This 100% Shiraz wine reached an ABV of 14.5% and was matured for 12 months in used American oak hogsheads to ensure the fruit's vibrancy remains at the fore. While the grapes are cultivated using respectful agriculture, this wine is not certified organic.
