Batasiolo Wine Collection
The Great Crus of Piedmont: Experience the Scale, Tradition, and Single-Vineyard Artistry of the Dogliani Family.
A Landmark of the Langhe Beni di Batasiolo is one of the most prominent and respected names in Piedmont. Owned by the Dogliani family, who have been rooted in the region’s viticulture for five generations, the estate took its modern form in 1978 with the acquisition of the historic Kiola winery. Today, Batasiolo manages over 140 hectares of prime estate vineyards, making it one of the largest family-owned wineries in the Barolo zone. The name "Beni" refers to the historic estates or "farms" that comprise their holdings, emphasizing an unbreakable bond between the farmer, the family, and the soil.
The Power of the Cru What sets Batasiolo apart is its extraordinary portfolio of Single Vineyard Crus (MGAs). While many producers source fruit from across the region, Batasiolo owns significant plots in five of the most prestigious Barolo areas, allowing them to showcase the distinct "terroir fingerprint" of each site:
-
Cerequio & Brunate: Located in La Morra, these vineyards are world-renowned for producing Barolos of immense aromatic elegance, floral perfume, and silky tannins.
-
Bussia: A legendary site in Monforte d’Alba, yielding wines with a harmonious balance of power, volume, and complex notes of sweet tobacco.
-
Briccolina & Boscareto: Situated in the white soils of Serralunga d’Alba, these crus produce the most structured, powerful, and age-worthy expressions, characterized by notes of tar, leather, and undergrowth.
A Diverse Piedmontese Portfolio While Barolo is the "crown jewel," the Dogliani family’s expertise extends across the full spectrum of Piedmontese varieties, utilizing both traditional methods and modern precision:
-
Noble Reds: Beyond Barolo, the collection includes structured Barbaresco, elegant Barbera d’Alba Sovrana, and the vibrant, cherry-forward Dolcetto d’Alba Bricco di Vergne.
-
Fresh & Aromatic Whites: Featuring the mineral-driven Gavi del Comune di Gavi (Granée) and crisp Langhe Chardonnay.
-
The Sparkling Tradition: Batasiolo is a master of the aromatic sparkling style, producing world-class Moscato d’Asti Bosc dla Rei and traditional method Metodo Classico cuvées.
Tradition Meets Modernity In the Batasiolo cellars, hundreds of large Slavonian oak casks sit alongside French oak barriques, allowing the winemaking team to tailor the maturation process to each specific vintage and variety. This balanced approach ensures that every bottle—from their accessible Langhe Nebbiolo to their rare Barolo Riserva—remains true to the soul of the territory while meeting the technical excellence demanded by the modern palate.
