A Legacy of Firsts Founded in 1876 by brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer, Beringer Vineyards holds the distinction of being California’s longest continuously operating winery. As of 2026, the estate is celebrating its 150th Anniversary, marking a century and a half of innovation in St. Helena. Beringer was a pioneer in gravity-fed winemaking and was among the first to utilize hand-dug caves for aging. It remains the only winery in the world to have both a red and a white wine named Wine Spectator’s "#1 Wine of the Year."
