Now in its third generation, the Berta family maintains an unwavering commitment to quality, operating from their state-of-the-art facility in Casalotto di Mombaruzzo. Berta was a pioneer in the art of aging grappa in wood, a practice that allows the spirit to achieve a level of complexity and elegance often compared to the finest Cognacs or whiskies.

The Berta Method: Respect for the Raw Material The secret to Berta’s quality begins with the marc (grape pomace). The distillery works exclusively with fresh, high-quality pomace from the region's most esteemed wine producers:

• The Steam Still: Berta utilizes traditional copper steam boilers (discontinuous method). This slow, artisanal process allows the master distiller to extract only the heart of the distillate, preserving the delicate aromatics of the original grape varieties like Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Moscato.

• The Cellar Ritual: Berta’s aging cellars are legendary. Underground and naturally insulated, the spirits rest in a variety of woods—including Slavonian oak, Troncais d’Allier, and even former Marsala barrels—often lulled by classical music and chromotherapy to ensure a harmonious maturation.
