Carruades de Lafite - Second Wine of Chateau Lafite

Carruades de Lafite, the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild, holds a place of distinction in the world of Bordeaux wines. Founded in the early 18th century, Château Lafite Rothschild stands as one of France's most renowned wine estates, with a legacy of producing some of the finest wines in the world. Carruades de Lafite, introduced in the 1980s, offers wine enthusiasts an accessible entry point into the elegance and sophistication of Lafite Rothschild's winemaking. While not as renowned as its illustrious counterpart, Carruades de Lafite exemplifies the estate's commitment to quality and excellence. Among Carruades de Lafite's most notable vintages is the 2000, a standout year for Bordeaux wines. This vintage is praised for its abundant fruit flavours, silky tannins, and remarkable aging potential. Another exceptional vintage is 2005, which exhibits a harmonious balance of ripe fruit, structured tannins, and nuanced complexity, reflecting the terroir of the Pauillac appellation. The 2010 Carruades de Lafite has garnered acclaim for its depth, intensity, and impeccable balance in recent years. With its layers of dark fruit, hints of spice, and velvety texture, this vintage showcases the pedigree of the estate and the skill of its winemaking team. While Carruades de Lafite may stand in the shadow of its illustrious sibling, it nonetheless represents a remarkable expression of the terroir and tradition of Château Lafite Rothschild. With each vintage, Carruades de Lafite continues to captivate wine enthusiasts with its finesse, complexity, and timeless elegance, reaffirming its status as a cherished component of the Bordeaux wine landscape.
