Cascahuin Tequila Collection
The Earth & Mineral Heart of El Arenal: Discover Traditional Brick Ovens, Volcanic Stone Tahonas, and Uncompromising Additive-Free Craftsmanship.
The Sacred Benchmark of Valley Terroir and Heritage Distilling Founded in 1955 by Don Salvador Rosales Briseño in El Arenal, Jalisco—widely regarded as the official gateway to the Tequila Valley—Cascahuín (NOM 1123) takes its name from a pre-Hispanic word meaning "Peak of Light" or "Hill of Joy." Today, four generations later, the distillery remains an independent family affair led by Salvador Rosales Torres and his sons, Chava and Tonatiuh Rosales.
Cascahuín is globally revered by agave purists as a beacon of artisanal integrity. Operating in a region defined by rich volcanic soil, Cascahuín preserves old-world production methods, slow masonry brick-oven cooking, wooden fermentation vats, volcanic stone tahonas, and copper pot stills, to create 100% additive-free tequilas bursting with earthy minerality, sweet cooked agave, and vibrant herbal freshness.
Artisanal Craftsmanship & Traditional Methods
-
100% Valley Agave: Sourced from the lowlands (El Valle), where warm days and dark volcanic soils yield agaves rich in deep earthy, mineral, and herbal character.
-
Masonry Brick-Oven Cooking: Agave hearts (piñas) are steam-cooked for up to 72 hours in historic masonry ovens, slowly caramelizing natural sugars.
-
Traditional Extraction Methods: Cascahuín utilizes a dual extraction strategy depending on the expression—ranging from traditional mechanical roller mills to a massive 2-ton volcanic stone Tahona wheel.
-
Wild Fermentation & Copper Distillation: Fermented in open wooden vats or masonry pits, incorporating ambient wild yeasts. Double-distilled in historic copper pot stills without post-distillation additives or synthetic flavor modifiers.
Core Expressions & Heritage Bottlings
-
Cascahuín Blanco (40% ABV): Crisp, classic Valley style. Packed with cooked agave sweetness, bright citrus peel, black pepper, and wet earth.
-
Cascahuín 48 Plata (48% ABV / 96 Proof): High-proof Blanco crafted using wild yeast and water-only extraction. Unfiltered and robust, offering explosive agave intensity, mint, lemongrass, and deep mineral salinity.
-
Cascahuín Tahona Blanco: The crown jewel for purists. Grapes are 100% extracted via a volcanic stone tahona and fermented with agave fibers (bagazo). Incredibly viscous and complex, loaded with roasted agave, earthy minerals, lime zest, and herbal olive brine.
-
Cascahuín Reposado & Añejo: Aged in seasoned American oak barrels. Maintains the brand's signature agave-forward profile while adding gentle layers of vanilla, toasted almond, dry oak, and light baking spices.
-
Cascahuín Extra Añejo: Matured for over 4 years in American white oak. Harmonizes deep butterscotch, dark chocolate, and oak tannins with underlying earthy agave sweetness.
-
Special Releases (Aniversario, Cerro de Luz, Eleven-Six): Highly sought-after collector editions utilizing ancestral earthenware pit-roasting, wood-fire distillation, or historic batch recipes.
