Château de Beaucastel Collection
Château de Beaucastel is an iconic Southern Rhône estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Managed by the Perrin family, it is world-renowned for organic viticulture, high Mourvèdre proportions, and using all 13 authorized appellation grape varieties.
Terroir & Winemaking Philosophy
Located in the northern tip of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Beaucastel’s 110-hectare continuous vineyard experiences cool mistral winds and distinct soil conditions that shape its age-worthy profile:
-
All 13 Grapes: Unlike estates reliant almost entirely on Grenache, Beaucastel continues to cultivate and blend all 13 permitted varieties, including Syrah, Counoise, Cinsault, Vaccarèse, and Terret Noir.
-
Mourvèdre Backbone: Mourvèdre typically makes up 30% of the red blend, imparting deep structure, gamey complexity, dark fruit, and exceptional cellaring potential.
-
Organic & Biodynamic Pioneer: The Perrin family transitioned to organic farming in 1950 and biodynamic practices in 1974, avoiding synthetic chemicals to preserve native soil microbiology.
-
Flash Heating Process: Harvested grapes undergo a rapid, brief heat treatment (flash-détente) before fermentation, extracting pure fruit color and aromatics while removing harmful enzymes without extracting harsh seed tannins.
Key Labels Featured in Our Collection
-
Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge: The estate's flagship red release. Layered with blackberry, garrigue, cured meat, and truffle notes, it typically requires 5 to 10 years of bottle age to fully bloom and can cellar for 25+ years.
-
Hommage à Jacques Perrin: An ultra-premium, micro-production cuvée crafted only in exceptional vintages. Predominantly made from old-vine Mourvèdre, it offers massive concentration and world-class longevity.
-
Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc: Crafted primarily from old-vine Roussanne (80%) and Grenache Blanc (20%). It showcases honeyed peach, beeswax, and mineral freshness.
-
Beaucastel Blanc Roussanne Vieilles Vignes: A rare 100% Roussanne bottling from vines planted in 1909. Viscous, aromatic, and capable of evolving like a great white Burgundy over several decades.
-
Coudoulet de Beaucastel: Sourced from a vineyard just across the appellation border (classified as Côtes-du-Rhône). Offers signature Beaucastel complexity and Mourvèdre influence at an accessible, early-drinking price point.
