Chateau Duhart Milon
Château Duhart-Milon, a Fourth Growth estate in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, is a jewel of the Pauillac appellation. Situated on the prestigious left bank of the Gironde River, the estate’s origins trace back to the early 18th century, when it was linked to the Milon family. Its name combines the property’s original designation with the legacy of the enigmatic pirate, Sieur Duhart, who is said to have retired to Pauillac and inspired the château’s emblematic label.
Since 1962, Château Duhart-Milon has been owned and meticulously managed by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), the renowned custodians of Château Lafite Rothschild. This stewardship brought significant improvements to the vineyards, winery, and overall winemaking practices, elevating the estate to new heights. The 76-hectare vineyard, planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, benefits from gravelly soils ideal for producing complex and age-worthy wines.
The Grand Vin of Château Duhart-Milon is celebrated for its refined Pauillac character, offering a structured profile of blackcurrant, cedar, and graphite, balanced by velvety tannins and a long, elegant finish. Known for its remarkable aging potential, the wine gains depth and harmony over decades. The estate also produces a second wine, Moulin de Duhart, which reflects a more approachable style while retaining the finesse of its flagship wine.
Château Duhart-Milon exemplifies the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, producing wines that embody Pauillac’s strength and sophistication. With its storied history and Rothschild connection, the château continues to captivate wine enthusiasts worldwide.
