Château Figeac Collection
The Crown Jewel of Saint-Émilion: Discover the Legendary "Right Bank First Growth," Elevated to Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" for Its Extraordinary Gunflint Gravel Terroir and Unique Cabernet-Driven Elegance.
The Pinnacle of Saint-Émilion Elegance
Standing proudly on the western edge of the appellation bordering Pomerol,Château Figeac is one of the most iconic and storied wine estates in all of Bordeaux. Owned and cherished by the Manoncourt family for over 120 years, Figeac represents a harmonious blend of centuries-old tradition and forward-thinking viticulture. The estate’s relentless pursuit of perfection reached a historic milestone on September 8, 2022, when Château Figeac was officially elevated toPremier Grand Cru Classé "A"—the highest possible distinction in Saint-Émilion classification.
Often referred to as "the most Right Bank of Left Bank wines" or the true First Growth of Saint-Émilion, Figeac produces age-worthy, deeply refined wines celebrated by critics and collectors worldwide.
An Anomaly of Terroir: The Three Gravel Croupes
While Saint-Émilion is predominantly known for limestone plateaus and clay-heavy soils that favor Merlot, Château Figeac possesses a completely unique geology. The estate spans 54 hectares resting upon three distinctgunflint gravel mounds (croupes).
These deep, well-draining gravel beds radiate daytime heat into the vines at night, creating an exceptional microclimate that allows late-ripening Cabernet varieties to reach flawless phenolic maturity:
-
35% Cabernet Sauvignon: Provides firm backbone, muscular tannic structure, and deep, dark fruit notes of cassis, graphite, and tobacco.
-
35% Cabernet Franc: Imparts seductive floral aromatics (violets, peonies), fresh cedar, and ethereal spice.
-
30% Merlot: Delivers lush, velvety texture, plush red plum, and roundness to the mid-palate.
This rare, Cabernet-heavy proportion (70% Cabernets to 30% Merlot) sets Figeac completely apart from its neighbors, giving the grand vin its unmistakable freshness, complex perfume, and extraordinary longevity.
