Château Margaux Collection
The Pinnacle of Feminine Power: Discover the Iconic 1855 Premier Grand Cru Classé Estate World-Renowned for Its Unrivaled Floral Fragrance, Silky Precision, and Timeless Elegance.
The Sovereign First Growth of the Left Bank
With history tracing back to the 12th century,Château Margaux stands in a realm of its own as one of only five First Growths (Premier Grand Cru Classé) in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The estate’s iconic Palladian chateau—often dubbed "The Versailles of the Médoc"—mirrors the extraordinary nobility of its wines. Since 1977, under the vision of André Mentzelopoulos and continued today by his daughter Corinne and her children, Château Margaux has continually redefined the boundaries of fine wine precision.
Known as the most subtle, perfumed, and ethereal of all Bordeaux First Growths, Château Margaux seamlessly blends structural intensity with a velvet-like texture that achieves near-perfect harmony.
Pristine Gravel Mounds & Ultra-Selective Viticulture
The estate spans over 82 hectares of vineyards set upon deep, well-draining mounds of fine quaternary gravel mixed with clay and limestone deposits. These gravel beds reflect sunlight, encourage deep rooting, and shield the vines from extreme moisture fluctuations:
-
Cabernet Sauvignon (~75%): The spine of the Grand Vin. Thrives on the leanest gravel terraces, yielding dense cassis, pencil shavings, graphite, and exceptional aging capability.
-
Merlot (~20%): Grown on cooler clay-gravel plots, adding lush black cherry fruit, mid-palate roundness, and immediate generosity.
-
Petit Verdot & Cabernet Franc (~5%): Petit Verdot brings deep violet aromatics, structure, and exotic spice, while Cabernet Franc adds delicate floral notes and subtle lift.
The technical process is executed with surgical exactness. In the state-of-the-art cellar designed by Lord Norman Foster, plot-by-plot vinification takes place in a combination of oak vats and stainless steel tanks. Drastic selection criteria ensure that only 30% to 40% of the entire harvest is elevated to the Grand Vin.
The World-Class Wine Portfolio
-
Château Margaux (Grand Vin - Premier Grand Cru Classé): The ultimate expression of finesse and regal weight. Intensely complex, offering ethereal aromatics of violets, blackcurrant, crushed cedar, tobacco leaf, and subtle truffle. Maturing for 18 to 24 months in 100% new French oak, it possesses a seamless tannic backbone built to evolve effortlessly for 20 to 80+ years.
-
Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux (Second Wine): First introduced in the 17th century and reintroduced in 1908, Pavillon Rouge receives the exact same meticulous cellar care as the Grand Vin. It displays the estate's signature perfume and silky structure with earlier accessibility and a drinking window of 10 to 30+ years.
-
Margaux du Château Margaux (Third Wine): Unveiled in 2009, this cuvée offers wine lovers an approachable gateway to the estate’s terroir. Driven by vibrant fruit, supple tannins, and balanced acidity, it is crafted for earlier enjoyment over 5 to 15 years.
-
Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux: One of the most sought-after dry white wines in all of Bordeaux. Sourced from a historic 12-hectare plot of 100% Sauvignon Blanc, this wine undergoes barrel fermentation and lees stirring to achieve stunning density, energetic salinity, and notes of white peach, citrus blossom, and fresh hazelnut. Aged for 8 months in French oak (approx. 20–30% new), it can cellar gracefully for decades.
