Chile Wine & Spirits Collection
The Viticultural Paradise of South America: Discover World-Class Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Cool-Climate Whites, and Artisanal Pisco Crafted Between the Towering Andes and the Pacific Ocean.
A Viticultural Sanctuary of Purity and Innovation
Stretching over 2,700 miles along the western coast of South America, Chile is recognized by wine collectors and spirits enthusiasts as a natural agricultural haven. Bordered by the Atacama Desert to the north, the Andes Mountains to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west, and the Antarctic ice caps to the south, Chile is virtually isolated from plant diseases. Most notably, it remains one of the few places on earth where European vines survive ungrafted on original rootstocks, unaffected by phylloxera.
With a winemaking history rooted in 16th-century Spanish colonial plantings and elevated by 19th-century French viticultural influences, Chile has evolved into a powerhouse producer of world-class, terroir-driven wines and artisanal spirits like Pisco.
Diverse Terroirs & Geography
Chile’s viticultural climate is driven by the cooling influence of the Humboldt Current sweeping up from Antarctica and cold air cascading down from the Andes at night. Winemakers organize Chilean terroirs into three transversal zones:
-
Costa (Coastal): Fog-shrouded, ocean-cooled valleys like Casablanca, San Antonio, and Leyda produce crisp Sauvignon Blanc, elegant Chardonnay, and vibrant, coastal Pinot Noir.
-
Entre Cordilleras (Between Mountains): Sun-drenched inland valleys like Maipo, Colchagua, and Cachapoal excel with full-bodied red varieties, benefiting from warm days and alluvial clay-gravel soils.
-
Andes (Mountain Foothills): High-elevation slopes delivering intense solar radiation combined with dramatic day-to-night temperature shifts (diurnal range), preserving crisp natural acidity and firm tannic structure in Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
Key Varieties & Spirits Portfolio
-
Carménère (The Lost Grape of Bordeaux): Mistaken for Merlot for over a century until re-identified in 1994, Carménère has become Chile's signature red variety. It yields deep, velvet-textured wines with plush plum, dark chocolate, green peppercorn, and cocoa notes.
-
Cabernet Sauvignon: The crown jewel of Chilean red wine, especially from the famous Maipo Valley (sub-regions like Puente Alto and Pirque). World-renowned icon wines showcase cassis, eucalyptus, graphite, and silky, cellar-worthy tannins.
-
Cool-Climate Whites & Pinot Noir: Casablanca and Leyda produce mineral-driven Sauvignon Blanc packed with lime zest, white peach, and salinity, alongside elegant Pinot Noir showing red berries and earth.
-
Chilean Pisco: Chile’s national clear spirit, distilled from aromatic grape varieties (predominantly Muscat, Torontel, and Pedro Ximénez). Unlike its Peruvian counterpart, Chilean Pisco can be distilled multiple times and aged in wooden casks (ranging from French oak to native woods), yielding expressions that range from floral and un-aged (Blanco) to complex, amber-hued barrel-aged reserves.
Epicurean Food Pairings
-
Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon & Carménère: Grilled ribeye steak (asado), braised lamb shanks, smoked brisket, empanadas de pino (beef and onion), and aged Gouda or Manchego cheese.
-
Coastal Whites & Pinot Noir: Fresh ceviche, oysters on the half shell, pan-seared sea bass with herbs, goat cheese crostini, and roasted pork tenderloin.
-
Chilean Pisco: Enjoyed neat as an aged sipping spirit, or mixed into a refreshing Pisco Sour (with fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and egg white) alongside grilled seafood skewers and fried calamari.
