The Wine World's Greatest Innovation: Explore Pouring Without Pulling the Cork, Revolutionary Argon Preservation, and Professional By-The-Glass Technology.
Transforming the Way the World Drinks Wine
Founded in 2011 by medical device engineer Greg Lambrecht, Coravin completely revolutionized global wine consumption by solving the ancient dilemma of wine oxidation. Driven by a desire to enjoy glasses of fine wine without committing to opening entire bottles—or allowing remaining wine to spoil—Lambrecht spent over a decade developing patented medical-grade needle and gas technology that allows wine enthusiasts and sommelier professionals to access liquid from a sealed bottle without pulling the cork.
Today, Coravin is trusted by Michelin-starred restaurants, world-renowned collectors, and everyday wine lovers across the globe. By removing the fear of waste and enabling effortless single-glass exploration, Coravin gives drinkers the freedom to sample a rare vintage, pair different wines with every course of a meal, or enjoy a weeknight glass on their own terms.
Proprietary Technology & Medical-Grade Engineering
The brilliance of the Coravin Wine Preservation System lies in its elegant balance of physics and gas dynamics:
-
Non-Cored Precision Needle: A Teflon-coated, ultra-thin stainless steel needle passes gently through natural cork without displacing or tearing the cork material. Once withdrawn, the natural elasticity of natural cork causes it to reseal completely around the puncture.
-
Pure Argon Gas Protection: As wine is extracted through the hollow needle, the system replaces the poured liquid volume with 100% ultra-pure, food-safe Argon gas. Argon is an inert gas widely used in commercial winemaking that creates an impenetrable blanket over the remaining wine, preventing oxygen contact and preserving oxidation-sensitive compounds for months or even decades.
-
Screw Cap Compatibility: Specialized silicone-lined Coravin Screw Caps allow users to puncture and preserve screw-cap bottles for up to three months, expanding the system's utility across modern global wine regions.
System Tiers & Essential Accessories
