Domaine Gérard Raphet Collection
The Essence of Morey-Saint-Denis Finesse: Discover Old-Vine Pinot Noir, Silk-Textured Elegance, and Pure Burgundian Terroir.
Classic Old-Vine Mastery in the Côte de Nuits Based in the famed village of Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Gérard Raphet is revered among Burgundy purists for crafting transparent, silky, and deeply authentic Pinot Noir. Under the leadership of Gérard Raphet and his daughter Marion, the family estate spans approximately 12 hectares of choice vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits, including prized parcels in Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Clos de Vougeot, Clos de la Roche, and Gevrey-Chambertin.
At the core of the Raphet style is a commitment to old-vine viticulture (Vieilles Vignes). Many of the domaine's vines were planted over 80 years ago, naturally yielding small, concentrated berries that impart rich fruit density and fine-grained structural elegance. Through traditional, low-intervention winemaking—including hand harvesting, indigenous yeast fermentation, and gentle oak aging—Domaine Gérard Raphet captures the pure, unvarnished voice of each distinct terroir.
Viticultural Philosophy & Winemaking Style
-
Ancient Vine Heritage: The estate's prized Vieilles Vignes holdings contribute natural depth, concentration, and complexity without requiring heavy extraction in the cellar.
-
Minimal Intervention: Grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented with natural ambient yeasts. The winemaking team emphasizes a gentle, infusion-style maceration to preserve delicate floral top-notes and bright red fruit.
-
Judicious Oak Maturation: Wines are aged in French oak barrels (typically 15% to 30% new for Village and Premier Cru bottlings, and up to 50% for Grand Crus) to allow the site's natural minerality and fruit character to take center stage.
