The 2013 Pinot Noir The Captain is the highest planting of Pinot on their property and a monopole block. They keep this fruit entirely for their estate program and 'The Captain' Cuvee. All other grapes in the vineyard are offered to other wineries, save for 'The Captain.' It is a really wind-scraped vineyard and the vines are highly stressed. This makes for a rich with wonderful balance.
94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2013 Pinot Noir The Captain offers a pretty, floral, raspberry, spice and forest floor-scented personality to go with medium-bodied richness, fine tannin, and beautifully integrated acidity. Completely destemmed and aged 18 months in 50% new French oak, it’s a flat-out beautiful wine, and the only downside is that there are only 98 cases produced. Drink it anytime over the coming decade.
