Product description
The history of Casa E. di Mirafiore began in 1878 when it was founded by Emanuele Alberto Count of Mirafiore, the son of Italy’s first King. As a noble farmer-entrepreneur, he approached winemaking with a modern vision for his time, using his estates in Barolo and Serralunga. The winery's philosophy is rooted in the "unconditional tradition" of Piedmontese winemaking, combined with a contemporary approach for optimization.
Wine Description
The bouquet is complex, offering notes of crushed blackberries, ripe black plum, orange peel, cedar, leather, black licorice, and coffee. On the palate, the wine delivers a warm feeling of volume and body, with dark fruit flavours like black cherries, sour cherry, blackberry jam, and brandied black cherry. Subtle hints of mocha, earth, tobacco, cinnamon, and mint add complexity. This well-delineated red is supported by a refreshing acidity that blends marvellously with soft, yet present, velvety tannins.
Food Pairing
This full-bodied Barbera d'Alba Superiore, with its robust fruit and refreshing acidity, is a perfect match for rich dishes such as pasta, meat dishes, game, and grilled or baked red meats. It also pairs beautifully with fresh, medium, or mature cheeses.
