Product description
France’s Bordeaux region is home to Chateau Puybarbe, located in the Cotes de Bourg subregion on the right bank of the Gironde estuary. The estate is currently run by Anna and Riku Väänänen, a Finnish couple who took ownership in 2018 and have since focused on sustainable viticulture and precise winemaking. The vineyard, perched on one of the highest points in the region, benefits from exceptional sun exposure and clay-limestone soils, which contribute to the wine’s depth and structure.
Wine Description
This 2019 vintage presents a deep ruby hue with violet reflections. On the nose, it delivers an elegant bouquet of ripe blackcurrants, black cherries, and subtle violet, underpinned by notes of cedar, graphite, and sweet spices. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with polished tannins and a lively acidity that lends freshness. Flavours of blackberry, plum, tobacco, and dark chocolate evolve into a refined, persistent finish with a touch of minerality.
Accolades

Food Pairing
Ideal pairings include grilled lamb chops, beef tenderloin, wild mushroom risotto, and aged Gouda. These choices complement the wine’s structure and highlight its layered complexity. A perfect match to enhance the wine's depth and character.
