Introduction
This white wine originates from the United States, specifically the North Coast region of California, which includes sources like Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Lake County, and Mendocino County. Duckhorn Vineyards was co-founded in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in St. Helena, Napa Valley, and quickly established itself as a premier producer of Bordeaux varietal wines. The winery is recognized as one of the first 40 Napa Valley wineries and is known for its commitment to quality, its pioneering role in elevating American Merlot, and its philosophy of crafting elegant, site-driven wines, adding Sauvignon Blanc to its portfolio in 1982.
Wine Description
The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp and expressive wine. From the first swirl, it captivates with aromas of candied pineapple and guava, layered with a delicate flourish of key lime blossom. On the palate, vibrant notes of fresh melon take centre stage, balanced by a lively acidity that lends energy and precision. The texture is silky, and it carries the wine to a focused finish with a hint of minerality and finesse. The wine is a blend of 86% Sauvignon Blanc and 14% Sémillon. It was fermented and aged for five months sur lie in 94% stainless steel and 6% new French oak barrels, the Sémillon inclusion adding depth and a silky mouthfeel.
