Product description

Hailing from the prestigious Cote Rotie appellation in the Northern Rhone valley of France, this wine is produced by the esteemed domaine of J Boutin. The estate is currently managed by Stephane Vedeau, who took over operations from his mother and continues a winemaking philosophy centered on expressing terroir through organic practices and minimal intervention. Vedeau emphasizes that 'the vines have to see the Rhone to make good wines', focusing on high-altitude, steep granite slopes that foster deep complexity and freshness in the fruit.

Wine Description

This 100% Syrah is sourced from 70 year old vines situated in the Cote Blonde subregion, known for its limestone and granite soils that impart elegance and floral character. In the glass, the wine presents a rich, deep colour, leading into an aromatic profile of blackberry, dark plum, and dark cherry, accented by classic Cote Rotie notes of violet, cloves, and pink peppercorn. The palate is round and silky with fine tannins and a fresh, well-balanced structure that highlights both spicy red fruit and a distinct minerality.
