Product description
Introduction
This elegant red wine originates from France, specifically the Saint Joseph appellation in the northern Rhône Valley. The estate is led by Stéphane Vedeau, who named the winery J. Boutin in honour of his mother, Jeannine Boutin. Vedeau follows a winemaking philosophy of 'purity and grace,' utilizing gravity-fed cellars and organic practices to express the distinct character of his tiny parcels perched on steep, granite-rich slopes.
Wine Description
The 2024 'Parcelle de Jean' is crafted primarily from 100% Syrah grapes sourced from 50+ year old vines in the 'Les Combes', 'Les Moures', and 'Les Cotes' sectors. In the glass, it reveals a deep red colour with an aromatic profile dominated by blackberry, black pepper, and aromatic herbs. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet velvety, featuring juicy notes of black cherries and minerals supported by a solid, medium-bodied grip. The finish is long and smooth, often revealing savoury, charcuterie-like nuances and a refreshing acidity. While approachable in its youth due to its harmonious fruit sweetness, it is a wine built for aging, with a typical drinking window extending well over a decade.
