Product description
The house of Taylor Fladgate traces its history back to 1692 with the arrival of English merchant Job Bearsley. Well into its fourth century, the company has established itself as one of the world’s most respected historic wine houses through the perseverance and continuity of successive generations of family involvement. Taylor Fladgate is also an area leader in winemaking technology, being one of only three Port producers to pioneer the development of piston fermenter techniques, called Port Toes.
Wine Description
The colour is an intense amber, tawny, or olive-gold. The aroma is voluptuous, spicy, tangy marmalade, nutty, with raisiny notes, toast, dried fruit, honey, and a touch of spice. Notes of dried prune, figs, caramel, clove, cinnamon, and subdued walnuts may also be found. On the palate, the Port is very rich and full, with concentrated flavour, and a silky, viscous texture. Flavours include caramel, butterscotch, roasted coffee, hazelnut,five-spice, nougat, roasted almonds, dried fruit like dates and figs, and marzipan elegantly infused with dried ginger.
Food Pairing
Suggested pairings include dried fruits and nuts, crème brûlée, fig and almond desserts, caramel tart, German Chocolate Cake, or cinnamon-crusted apple pie. It also complements mature and hard cheeses, such as Parmesan or aged Manchego.
