Taylor Fladgate 40 Year Old Tawny Port

Taylor Fladgate is one of the oldest of the founding Port houses, with a legacy spanning over three centuries since its establishment in 1692 by Job Bearsley. The company has remained fiercely independent, with family members playing a leading role in all areas of the firm's activity. Taylor Fladgate is entirely dedicated to the production of Port wine, combining a respect for its historic legacy with a pioneering spirit, and is regarded as the benchmark for Vintage Port.

Wine Description

The bouquet is powerful, complex, and intense, with impressions of dried fruit (dates, figs, and raisins), honey, spice, and an intense nuttiness like hazelnut and walnut. Notes of caramel, roasted coffee, butterscotch, nougat, and marzipan also converge on the nose. On the palate, the wine has a rich, voluptuous, and almost viscous texture, leading to a smooth, silky feel. The concentrated flavour is layered with maturity, offering notes of toffee, dried ginger, grilled peaches, and candied citrus peel.

Suggested pairings highlight the wine's rich, nutty, and caramel notes. It pairs excellently with desserts featuring figs, almonds, caramel, or butterscotch, such as crème brûlée, almond tart, or pecan pie.
