Product description
While the Peumo Vineyard Carmenère achieved iconic status for the label, Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon represents Concha y Toro’s focused exploration of high-altitude Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. Sourced from the prestigious Pirque Vineyard in the Maipo Valley—one of the world's premier terroirs for the variety—this wine showcases the signature Chilean Cabernet character: vibrant red fruit, intense structural elegance, and distinct cool-climate herbal complexity.
Guided by the legendary Ignacio Recabarren and the modern technical team, Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon isolates the finest blocks of Andean-influenced alluvial soils to craft a single-vineyard bottling that balances Old World structure with New World fruit purity.
Wine Description
The Terrunyo Pirque Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon pours a deep, radiant ruby-garnet color with dark purple undertones. The aromatics are intensely expressive and refined, opening with classic Maipo aromas of cassis, black cherry, red currant, and cedar, wrapped in subtle notes of menthol, fresh mint, dried herbs, pencil lead, and a touch of roasted coffee bean from its oak aging.
On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied with incredible linear tension. Brilliant natural acidity cuts through layers of bright red berry fruit and dark plums, while ultra-fine, gravelly tannins provide a solid, structured backbone. Accents of dark chocolate, tobacco leaf, and crushed stone emerge on the mid-palate, leading to a long, precise, and savory finish.
Composed predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon (often rounded out with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc), the wine undergoes gentle fermentation in stainless steel followed by approximately 16 to 18 months of aging in French oak barrels (around 30–40% new).
