This vibrant and elegantly pure white wine originates from New Zealand, specifically within the renowned Marlborough region at the top of the South Island. Established in 1994 by Greg and Sue White after they sailed the Pacific, Whitehaven Wine Company remains an independent, family owned winery currently headed by Sue White. The winery's philosophy is centred on a pursuit of 'quality without compromise', consistently crafting premium wines from 100% Marlborough fruit that showcase the region's distinctive maritime climate.

Wine Description

Whitehaven Pinot Gris presents a very bright appearance with a translucent polished gold hue. The sensory profile features a bouquet and palate led by pomaceous fruits such as yellow apple, red apple, pear, and quince, layered with a mix of lees, white spice, and suggestions of sweet Asian pear. On the palate, the wine is just off-dry with a touch of residual sweetness, showcasing a crunchy and refreshing character from a decent line of acidity that accentuates the spice and warmth of alcohol. It is a well-made, medium-bodied wine with a silky flow and a fine-textured mouthfeel. This 100% Pinot Gris typically reaches an ABV of approximately 13.5% and is suitable for vegans. While the estate is a member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, this specific wine is not certified organic.
