19 Crimes, an Australian wine brand established in 2012, is renowned for its innovative approach to winemaking and marketing. The brand pays homage to British convicts transported to Australia in the 18th century, with each wine label featuring a different historical figure. In collaboration with Martha Stewart, 19 Crimes introduced "Martha's Chard," marking their first California Chardonnay.
The 2021 Martha's Chard presents a pale gold hue. On the nose, it exudes aromas of ripe green melon and citrus. The palate reveals slightly sweet honeysuckle transitioning to muted Mandarin orange, complemented by nice acidity and a bit of minerality. The wine's mouthfeel is juicy with a touch of tartness, leading to a medium to long finish where minerality becomes more pronounced. With an alcohol content of 13.8%, this Chardonnay is approachable now and will continue to develop over the next 2 to 3 years.
This Chardonnay pairs wonderfully with seafood dishes, especially those prepared with butter-based sauces. It also complements poultry and creamy pasta dishes. These pairings highlight the wine’s depth and character, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
