Product description
Introduction
Altesino Rosso Toscana 2024 is a red wine from Italy, produced in the Tuscany region and the Montalcino subregion. Altesino is one of Montalcino's most famous Brunello producers. The winery was a pioneer in the region, being the first to introduce the 'Cru' concept in 1975, the first to experiment with barriques in 1979, and the first to release Brunello futures in 1985. The winery's philosophy combines an essential respect for tradition with a forward-looking perspective, resulting in wines that retain the unique and high quality reputation of Brunello.
Wine Description
The wine presents itself in a lively ruby red or purple red colour. The aromatic profile is fresh and very fragrant, with hints of violets and wild berries. Specific aromas include ripe red and blue fruit, touches of black olives, and notes of minerals and stones.
The varietal composition is predominantly Sangiovese, blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Sources indicate the blend is 80% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot. It is a medium bodied wine. The flavour is dry, spicy, sapid, and decisive, with persuasive drinkability. The palate is smooth and juicy, with lively fruit in the middle. Stylistically, it is balanced and focused, crafted for accessibility and ready to be enjoyed upon release. The wine is matured for six to eight months in stainless steel tanks. The ABV is 13.0%. The optimal drinking window extends past 2029. Information on the organic status of the wine is not available in the sources.

Food Pairing
This Rosso Toscana is a wonderful everyday wine that is perfect for pasta dishes with meat sauces. It is also recommended with roasted white meats, poultry, or barbecued chorizo and other sausages.
Vintage Quality
The 2024 vintage in Tuscany was rated as 'Good to Very Good'. The season benefited from a rainy winter and spring that favoured vine development and ensured the soils were well hydrated. This allowed the vines to withstand the hot, dry summer, resulting in grapes of high quality with intense aromas and good acidity.
